Frankly Data Desk — Canada

Online Casinos in Canada, 2026

Frankly tracks 16 online casinos open to Canadian players, ranked by a trust score that weights licence quality, complaint resolution, withdrawal speed and bonus fairness. Outside Ontario, Canada does not license private online casinos, so these sites operate under international licences and the score accounts for it. Nothing on this page is paid placement.

The law

Canadian gambling law in 2026

Canada's Criminal Code leaves gambling to the provinces. Each province runs or licenses its own online offering, and until 2022 those provincial sites were the only regulated online casinos in the country.

Ontario changed that on 4 April 2022. Private operators can register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and operate under iGaming Ontario. Registered operators must meet Ontario's rules on player protection and advertising, and unregistered sites are not supposed to serve Ontario players.

Outside Ontario, privately run online casinos sit in a grey market. They hold licences from bodies such as Kahnawake, Malta or Curaçao, accept Canadian players, and playing at one is not an offence for the player.

Winnings are not taxed for recreational players in Canada. The minimum age is 19 in most provinces, and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.

Ontario

Playing from Ontario

Ontario is the one province with a regulated market for private operators, and it is the term Canadians search for most.

None of the casinos on this page list an Ontario (AGCO) registration among the licences Frankly tracks. If you are in Ontario, check the AGCO register before you deposit; the rest of this page is written for the other provinces.

Which Canadian casinos accept Interac?

Do these casinos accept CAD?

6 of the 16 casinos accept CAD deposits, which avoids currency-conversion fees. 13 accept crypto.

1 verified no-deposit offer is live for Canadian players, against 15 welcome offers. Frankly lists only offers it can verify from the casino's own terms.

What is the gambling age in Canada?

The minimum age is 19 in most provinces, and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Casinos apply the age of the province you play from.

Is online gambling legal in Canada?

Yes, with a provincial split. Every province runs or licenses its own online casino. Ontario also registers private operators through the AGCO and iGaming Ontario. Elsewhere, privately run casinos hold international licences and accept Canadian players; playing at one is not an offence.

Can I use these casinos from Ontario?

Ontario expects private operators to register with the AGCO before serving Ontario players. Check the AGCO register for any casino on this page before depositing from Ontario; Frankly's licence data does not currently record Ontario registrations.

Are casino winnings taxed in Canada?

Not for recreational players. Canada treats gambling winnings as windfalls, so they are not income. Professional gamblers can be assessed differently.
