Frankly Data Desk — Ireland

Online Casinos in Ireland, 2026

Frankly tracks 14 online casinos open to Irish players, ranked by a trust score that weights licence quality, complaint resolution, withdrawal speed and bonus fairness. Ireland's new regulator has not yet licensed online casinos, so every site here operates under an international licence and the score accounts for it. Nothing on this page is paid placement.

The law

Irish gambling law in 2026

The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 created the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI), which is phasing in a licensing regime for online gambling, casino games included. Until those licences are issued, Irish law has never licensed online casino games: remote betting was regulated under the Betting Act, but casino play sat in a gap.

In that gap, Irish players use offshore casinos holding international licences, such as the ones ranked above. Playing at one is not an offence for the player. Once GRAI licensing is live, unlicensed operators will be expected to leave the Irish market, and this page will say which casinos hold an Irish licence.

Winnings are not taxed for recreational players in Ireland. The minimum age is 18.

Playing is not an offence. Until those licences are issued, the casinos Irish players use hold international licences, and Frankly's trust score weights that licence.

Are casino winnings taxed in Ireland?

No. Gambling winnings are not taxed for individuals in Ireland.
